"I found a workaround that appears to resolve the issue for me which l read on another forum and that is set the instrument cluster to the brightest/max setting using the button on the right near the the headlight levelling/battery reset button.
I drove 100miles in the dark down the M1 and tested multiple times lowering the brightness from max which would cause the satnav to lose position and then moving to max and eventually after a few seconds it would correct itself.
For me, l am going to live with this solution now as l cant be asked with the back and forth with KCS and trips to the dealer."
